January 2020

Seeing With Fresh Eyes

I was able to start off the New Year with a bang by turning 22. A year older doesn’t feel too different though. On January 1st, I spent time with some of my family and friends.

On January 4th, I was able to celebrate my friend’s wedding with her by being a bridesmaid and doing her makeup. This was a beautiful way to start off the year with the celebration of a marriage. My friend’s now husband works at Bayside, and I’ve known them both by meeting them at Bayside in a small group.

On January 11th, my wonderful intern director hosted a girls night at her house with my peers and fellow worship interns at Bayside Folsom. You can see a picture with us girls above. We made pizzas, ate sweet treats, and watched a movie. It was a great bonding time, and I feel so valued and loved by my Folsom fam.

On January 16th-17th, Bayside Granite Bay hosted one of its biggest youth conferences of the year, the Unleashed Conference. At this conference, we have Middle and High School students from all our campuses and all over the area come to be filled up with the love of Jesus and have fun. I was able to help by setting up the stage and by running a camera for the video team during the worship services and the New Respects concert at the conference. You can see a picture of our worship leader, Corbin Phillips, above from the conference that was a fun shot I was able to get with my camera. This was a super fun time and great learning experience.

On January 19th, I was able to lead worship for Bayside Folsom’s Middle School group. This was a super fun experience.

On January 20th, my 18:22 group for Thrive School had a group hang at Top Golf. After, we went to someone’s house and had a taco night. We ended up having some spontaneous worship with a guitar in the living room and some great bonding time together. You can see our group picture above.

On January 22nd, I had a fun jam session with my Folsom worship people. You can see us playing and singing in the picture above. I’ve been singing more for high school ministry at Folsom on Wednesday nights before going to lead my Middle School small group. My small group got so big that we had to split the girls into two 6th grade girl groups instead of one. Our group grew to 19 girls, so now I have about 9 girls in my group and 10 in another group with some of our new leaders who are parents. There has been some great bonding and Spiritual growth with my girls that has been such a privilege and blessing to be a part of.

On January 25th, I was able to help at the marriage conference Bayside Granite Bay hosts. I was stage managing for the conference, which was a super cool experience since I got to interact with the speakers and pastors at the conference.

On January 26th, the Thrive Worship team at Bayside recorded their live album at the Granite Bay evening service. The first album they released topped the charts of Christian music and one of their most popular songs made it on the radio, so they were approached about doing a live recording. It was a super cool experience to get to help with and observe what it looks like to record a live album.

This month, God has been giving me a new/fresh perspective of why I am in Thrive and why I’m doing what I’m doing. Leading worship is ushering people into God’s presence and setting an example of worship by praising God with my gifts He’s given for His glory. I want the students I’m serving to be able to experience God in a tangible way for themselves and develop a deep relationship with their Creator. I am so excited for what this next season of Thrive will bring.
