The New Normal

This month was a bit crazy due to the fact that I got covid and had to quarantine for a couple weeks. My symptoms were not too severe, they were pretty moderate, but it wasn’t fun not being able to taste food on Thanksgiving day. In quarantine, I wrote a new song. I also knitted lots of beanies, practiced my instruments, and spent good time with the LORD. Since two weeks were spent in quarantine, I only have two weeks of actual Thrive updates.
I gave two sermons to Thrive School this month. You can see a picture above of me giving one of my sermons. My sermon was titled “Ripping Out Bitterness” because you can’t leave bitterness alone and expect it to go away, you have to actively rip it out. This message was based around the Scripture Ephesians 4:31-5:2, which discusses how we are to live our lives Jesus did with two things: love and forgiveness.
My other sermon was based off of Genesis 3, and discussed the idea that the devil will try to get us to question and doubt what the LORD has said, but even when we are disobedient he will seek us out. Our first instinct is to run and hide from God in our guilt and shame (this separates us from God), but His first instinct is to seek us out.
At Bayside Midtown this month we had our first 18.25 meet up (a group for 18-25 year olds), and I was able to lead worship with one of our volunteers who is also in the age range of 18.25, Grant. Though the picture is dark, there is a picture above of us leading together. It was a nighttime outdoor meetup, and it went very well! We were able to make some much needed connections with people who are feeling increasingly more alone with all the covid restrictions.
Additionally, I’ve been able to lead worship twice this month for Midtown’s Sunday services, which can be seen in the picture above. Once was an in person service, the other time was an online recording due to covid restrictions in Sacramento. We had to go back online.
I also decorated my Christmas tree for my room to bring a little Christmas cheer.
