Thankful For Purpose

November was such a busy month that breezed by. The holidays always seem to fly by faster than I’d like. Fall is my favorite season, yet it rushed through so quickly that I feel I barely had time to enjoy it fully.
This month, Midtown YTH has been thriving with both attendance and student participation. My 7th grade girls have been participating and discussing life, faith, and the Bible in such tangible and realistic ways, and asking questions that I didn’t start asking until college. They are sharp and hungry, and it has been a huge blessing to be a part of their lives.
I was able to attend one go my student’s plays, The Lion King Jr. You can see a picture of a scene from the play above, and a picture of me and one of my other students who was able to attend the play with me.
This month, I was able to celebrate the birthdays of two of my spiritual family members (they happen to have the same birthday). You can see a picture of some my beautiful spiritual family members above. They’ve been a blessing and a safe space in my life, and I’m so grateful for them.
One of my friends and accountability partners from my Thrive School days got married this month, and it was a blessing to be able to celebrate her wedding. Above, you can see a picture of me and some of my Discipleship group from my Thrive School days and our leader. These ladies were there for me in some of my most developmental times of faith as I was learning and growing rapidly about God, life, and love. I’m so grateful for them and the times we spent together.
Over at Midtown Church, we also began our holiday outreach. We collected and distributed tons of food and gift cards for in need families over Thanksgiving. You can see a picture of our Holiday Outreach table above.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I was able to celebrate 2 Friendsgivings and 1 family Thanksgiving. The first Friendsgiving kicked off with our YTH. We had the highest attendance Wednesday night of the year, with many of our students bringing friends. It is safe to say that they understood the assignment. There is room for everyone at the table. The second Friendsgiving of the season was with our 1825 crew over at Midtown Church. We did potluck style, everyone brought something to the table and we were able to share a wonderful meal together with way too much pie. Our family Thanksgiving also consisted of way too much pie (which was my fault as I insisted there wouldn’t be enough. But it was great to have family together and share a meal as last year we were not able to do so. I had covid last year during the Thanksgiving season, so it was our first Thanksgiving all back together after 2 years.
That about sums up the month. I am so grateful for all the people the Lord has so graciously placed in my life. I’m grateful for my jobs, for the air in my lungs, for my health, for my family, and for everything I’ve been blessed with and called to.
As always, thanks for reading.
