JUNE 2021

Can’t Stop Me Now

Where to start with this crazy busy month that flew by so quickly? I guess I’ll start at the beginning.

I have been continuing to learn and grow in my graphic design skills, which has been fun. Thanks to my boss, who’s been helping to coach me in graphic design, I was able to design an ad for our social media, which you can see in the above picture.

I’ve also been able to help in the creation of many of our new apparel for Midtown Church (as we have rebranded), and also for Midtown YTH. You can see photos of one of our new summer t’s for Midtown YTH, and also the new Midtown Church t-shirt line up. We had multiple pop-up shops at Midtown this month to sell this new apparel in order to raise money for our YTH camps. Modern Abolition (MA) donated a percentage of each item sold at the popup shops to Midtown YTH for summer camp in order to help send kids who can’t afford to pay to camp for free or a discounted rate. Our first popup shop this month at Midtown was a pick and stick where people got to buy a customized shirt with the color t and color art they wanted paired together. The second popup shop was selling the most popular color pairings already put together and ready for purchase. Live sales was a good learning experience.

It was also my youngest brother’s birthday, so I made him a couple t-shirts (the pink ones) as you can see in the picture above.

I hosted another anime passion tribe meetup this month, which was so fun for the kiddos! We watched the PG anime film Howl’s Moving Castle, one of my all time favorites. Above you can see a picture of the flyer I made and of the group enjoying their boba and pizza. There were 15 students in total.

I also met up with my 7th grade girls tribe from Midtown YTH that I lead, and they had a great time getting to know each other and hanging out. They all just moved up to 7th grade this summer, and graduated from our 46 ministry into our middle school ministry. We played get-to-know each other games, listened to music, and ate snacks together. You can see a picture of me and my group above, there are 5 girls in my group. I’m grateful that me and the girls in my group have had lots of common connection points when it comes to personal interests. Many of my girls like K-pop and anime (which I am a self-proclaimed connoisseur of), and have similar experiences, like similar foods and drinks to each other and myself. God has really placed me in a perfect spot to have the privilege to connect with and lead them in their faith and life journeys.

Midtown Church also had their first YTH 46 camp this month, which was a blast! We had over 50 students in 4th-6th grade. You can see some pictures above. It was a 2 day camp. The first day we had 2 amazing speakers for 2 different sessions, a game truck, and water balloon game, and many other games and activities including tye-dying their camp shirts. The second day we also had 2 amazing speakers and 2 sessions, as well as many other activities including a photo booth, water fight, painting, 20 second challenge, and more. I got to lead tribe time for our older girl group on both days. We had 5 students accept Christ for the first time!

Our 18.25 group at Midtown is thriving as well. One of the girls in our group hosted a potluck movie night in her backyard this month, which was so fun and almost everyone from our group came. We have a regular 15 people now every week, and we are getting deeper in our relationships with each other and with God. We go through Scripture together, pray together, and share life updates.

If you haven’t seen all the Voila animation transformation pictures everyone has been putting all over the place, I attached one above (yes, I did hop on that train). However, I was not that impressed and deleted the app shortly after (mostly because it was taking up too much storage). That is my trend review of the month.

Personally, I have been learning a lot about balance and how to listen to God’s voice in my life even if people are saying different things to me. Everyone has an opinion about what I should or shouldn’t do, but I’m learning how to filter out human expectations and trust God and make good decisions. It’s been a humbling experience as I try to weed out bad habits and keep consistent with good ones. I am loving life over all, even though it isn’t always easy. And I feel very blessed to be where I am right now.

As always, thanks for reading!
